Alexandra “Alex” Guarnaschelli is the daughter of esteemed cookbook editor Maria Guarnaschelli. After graduating from Barnard College, Alex worked at a number of restaurants in Paris, New York and Los Angeles. In 2003, Alex became executive chef at Butter restaurant. In 2011, she opened The Darby, an old-style New York supper club with live music, a raw bar, and a menu focusing on seafood and reinterpretations of iconic “retro supper club” dishes. Alex is a judge on the shows Chopped and The Next Iron Chef and a regular contributor to The Best Thing I Ever Made. She also completed three seasons of Alex’s Day Off, a show produced by Bobby Flay, airing on the Cooking Channel. In 2012, Alex defeated nine rival chefs to win The Next Iron Chef: Redemption, joining the ranks of Kitchen Stadium Iron Chefs. In addition, Alex has written for Saveur, Wine Enthusiast, Food & Wine and Food Network Magazine. Her first cookbook debuted in spring 2013. Alex Guarnaschelli will appear Friday, November 8.
